Hi, we're Kate and Joanna. We're a mother/daughter-in-law duo from regional NSW and we own Poppy Faye Store. 

 

Poppy Faye Store was created after Kate's daughter, Poppy Faye, was born and we started making clothing, bibs, blankets and other products just for her. We enjoyed creating together and decided to found our family business that prides itself on providing beautiful, functional and comfortable aprons and accessories for children from new-borns to pre-schoolers and beyond.

 

Everything is designed by Kate or Joanna and each piece is produced with the careful attention to detail, quality of finish and unique design that only boutique, hand-made items can provide.

 

We started with just an Instagram and an Etsy account, selling only the limited stock we had on hand. This was predominantly bibs, burp cloths, a couple of blankets and outfits in limited sizes and prints as they were not made to order. We are so proud of how we have grown and the wide range of products and prints available to choose from now. While we have many items ready to ship for those who want it now, we also offer the option to choose your size and print and we'll custom make it for you at no additional charge and often with little to no additional wait. We've been known to sit at the sewing machine past bedtime to get orders out quickly!

 

Our product range has grown with Poppy. Poppy has always been an adventurer and nature lover but as Poppy grew older and her play got messier Kate found herself needing to protect all of the beautiful dresses and clothing that Poppy would insist on wearing while painting or playing outside, and so Kate made her an apron. 

 

Kate has always dreamed of home schooling Poppy and even in those infant years enjoyed doing crafts and structured learning activities with her. Kate was not alone in this mission; one of Kate's childhood friends was attempting to do the same thing with her eldest daughter while on maternity leave with her second child. From across the country they attempted to be a village for each other and share in this home schooling journey by creating an Instagram page 'Our Creative Days' and documenting their craft and learning adventures. Kate made several aprons for Poppy and her friend and realised many mum's would surely be looking to protect their children's clothing as well. 

 

The apron was designed to be waterproof and durable and easy to clean, with playful kids and thankful mums in mind. This quickly became a best seller and the feature product of Poppy Faye Store. After many requests we also fashioned an adults apron, modelled after Kate's nan's apron that she inherited while pregnant with Poppy. 

 

Now we're looking to the future of Poppy Faye Store. While we have run this business alongside part time work and other responsibilities for the last few years, there has always been a competing priority. Now the time has come to throw everything we have at this and invest all of our resources in to making Poppy Faye Store as successful as it can be. We'd love to see this blossom in to a business that can support Kate to stay at home and continue to be available to Poppy as she starts her formal schooling years and to see our 3 generations work alongside each other to create quality products for children across Australia.
